Origin of the name Misener:
The German surname Meißner is usually traced to the town Meissen or Meißen (near Dresden) where porcelain was first produced in Europe (around 1700). Meißen is also the name of a principality. According Hans Bahlow, a famous German onomastician, the name of the town originates from the Slavic word 'Misna' = 'Sumpfort' (English: place of swamp, marshland).
It is also possible that the surname is derived from the mountain named Meißner in northern Hesse, or from the nearby community Meißner.
