Notes for John T. ROSE

Source John Rose: He left home when quite young (9 or 10) because his father had remarried and he didn't get along with his step-mother. He joined the army in WWI and as he was too young to enlist, he took his cousin's name, Tom, altering his birth certificate to read John Tom Rose.

It is believed he was the deputy mayor of New Waterford for a couple of years. He was mine manager of #12, #16, #1b and #26. He was killed in the mine on October 4, 1949 at 11:15 a.m. He was born March 21, 1898 and died at 51 1/2 years of age.

Huntington's Disease runs in the family or as it was known then "St.Vitus Dance." Jeremiah died (1939) of this disease. This disease has killed my uncle and three of my aunt's on my dad's side.
